Like all others who enjoy the sport, I get asked, “What [the —-] is Underwater Hockey?” or, “Is that really a sport, or are you making this up?”\u00a0 Granted, I do like to spin tall tales, but underwater hockey is a serious sport, and I love playing this game!<\/p>\n

Underwater hockey is a very fast moving game that is played on the bottom of a swimming pool.\u00a0 Two teams of six players score points by knocking a 3 pound puck\u00a0into the opposing team’s goals.\u00a0 Each player\u00a0uses\u00a0a\u00a0uniquely designed\u00a0stick to handle the puck.\u00a0\u00a0All players\u00a0wear a mask, pair of fins,\u00a0snorkel,\u00a0pr\"73581_1521582796589_603360_n\"otective glove and headgear.<\/p>\n

Practice games and most tournament games are played co-ed.\u00a0 Because the water nullifies pure mass advantages, neither men nor women hold an unfair advantage over the other.\u00a0\u00a0Advantaged players have good swimming, breatholding, and puck handling skills – none are gender based.<\/p>\n

Tournament\u00a0games are played with two 15 minute halves with a four minute half time.\u00a0 Each team can have up to 4 substitutes on the\u00a0side who can enter play on the fly.<\/p>\n
